Halima Abdinur
Entrepreneurship Journey

Halima Abdinur: Resilience in her Community

Halima Abdinur is a remarkable example of resilience and entrepreneurship in her community. As the head of a seven-member family and a mother of five children, Halima faced various challenges that threatened her family's financial stability. Recognizing the need for capital to transform her situation, she approached the RAAS MFI office in Mogadishu to secure a loan.

With an initial loan of $500, Halima embarked on her entrepreneurial journey. Over the course of five loan cycles, she effectively utilized the financial resources provided by RAAS MFI to expand her business operations. This strategic growth not only increased her income significantly but also enabled her to cover essential family expenses more comfortably.

As a result of her hard work and financial investments, Halima has been able to enroll four of her children in school, a substantial increase from just two prior to her investment.

"Education is the key to a better life, and my journey with RAAS MFI has given my children a brighter future."

Empowerment

Aisha Adow Farole: Transforming Determination into Success

Aisha Adow Farole, a resilient 45-year-old woman from Mogadishu, exemplifies how determination and opportunity can transform a modest idea into a thriving business. As the head of a family of eight, Aisha operates a small fruit shop. Prior to securing financing, she worked with middlemen, resulting in minimal profit.

After obtaining a loan, her daily sales increased from $20 to $45. This financial boost allowed her to expand her business, hire her sister, and increase her daily expenses to better support her family. Aisha successfully enrolled four of her children in school.

"I’m not just building a business — I’m building a future for myself, my workers, and my community."
Zainab Mohamed Dirie
Agribusiness

Zainab Mohamed Dirie: Strengthening Her Family's Future

Zainab Mohamed Dirie, an ambitious entrepreneur from Waaciya, Puntland, supports a household of 14 through her agribusiness and household goods shop. Before partnering with RAAS MFI, Zainab faced stagnant growth and lacked the inventory required to expand.

In October 2025, Zainab secured a $700 loan along with capacity-building support. She introduced a wider variety of agricultural products, boosting her daily sales to $35. The additional income ensures her children's education fees are paid regularly.

"The assistance from Raas MFI has been a game-changer for my business and my family's future."
