RAAS MFI participated in a two-day workshop on Financial Readiness and Access to Finance for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), held in Nairobi, Kenya, on 26–27 August 2026 and organized by GIZ.

The workshop brought together financial institutions and other relevant stakeholders to exchange knowledge, share practical experiences, and explore approaches to strengthening the financial readiness of MSMEs and improving their access to appropriate financing opportunities.

Throughout the workshop, discussions focused on some of the key factors that influence the ability of small and medium-sized businesses to access finance. These included strengthening business planning, improving business registration and documentation, effective management of cash flows, understanding the financing requirements of financial institutions, and building stronger relationships between MSMEs and financial service providers.

The workshop also provided an opportunity to examine the specific financing challenges faced by women-led businesses and approaches that can help create more inclusive and accessible financial services for women entrepreneurs.

As a financial institution serving MSMEs in Somalia, RAAS MFI shared its perspectives and practical experience in developing financial solutions that respond to the needs and realities of micro, small and medium enterprises. RAAS MFI highlighted the importance of accessible, responsible, and Sharia-compliant financing in enabling entrepreneurs to strengthen their businesses, invest in productive activities, and pursue sustainable growth.

Participation in the workshop also provided RAAS MFI with an opportunity to exchange experiences with fellow financial institutions, learn from different approaches to MSME financing, and contribute to discussions on how financial institutions can better prepare businesses to successfully access and manage financing.

RAAS MFI remains committed to expanding financial inclusion and improving access to suitable financial services for entrepreneurs, women, youth, and MSMEs across Somalia. By strengthening financing opportunities and supporting the growth of local enterprises, RAAS MFI continues to contribute to business development, job creation, sustainable livelihoods, and broader economic development in Somalia.
