RAAS MFI was pleased to participate in the National Dialogue on the Kampala Declaration on Migration, Environment and Climate Change (KDMECC), held in Mogadishu on 5–6 July 2026.
The dialogue was organized by IOM – UN Migration Somalia in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC), bringing together key stakeholders from government institutions, development partners, civil society, financial institutions, and other relevant sectors to discuss climate mobility, resilience, and sustainable solutions for communities affected by climate change.
The National Dialogue provided an important platform for exchanging ideas, sharing experiences, and strengthening coordination around the growing link between migration, environmental degradation, climate change, and community resilience. Discussions focused on how climate-related shocks continue to affect livelihoods, displacement patterns, food security, and economic opportunities, particularly for vulnerable communities across Somalia.
RAAS MFI recognizes the critical role of sustainable finance in addressing climate challenges, strengthening resilience, and supporting inclusive economic opportunities. Through innovative solutions, including climate-smart finance, green MSME financing, and agricultural finance, RAAS MFI continues to promote financial inclusion and sustainable livelihoods in Somalia.
As part of this commitment, RAAS MFI has developed the Green Financing Window, a dedicated climate and energy financing product designed to address climate-related challenges by supporting renewable energy solutions, climate-smart businesses, sustainable agriculture, and resilient livelihoods.
The Green Financing Window reflects RAAS MFI’s commitment to ensuring that communities, small businesses, women, youth, farmers, and entrepreneurs have access to financial solutions that not only support income generation but also contribute to environmental sustainability and long-term resilience.
Through sustainable financial solutions, RAAS MFI continues to contribute to a greener economy and stronger, more resilient communities. The institution remains committed to working with partners, stakeholders, and communities to advance climate action, promote financial inclusion, and support sustainable development in Somalia.
